Reliability. The reliability of power supply is an important indicator of power quality. Large, reputable hospitals have very high requirements for the reliability of their power supply. If the hospital’s power supply system fails and the power supply is interrupted, it could have serious consequences.
Continuity.Large, reputable hospitals typically have high electrical loads because they may be performing important surgeries every minute, placing high demands on the continuity of power supply. Hospitals usually have two or more high-voltage power sources and generator sets to ensure the continuity of power supply.
Stability. Stability here is different from reliability mentioned above. It mainly refers to the stability requirements of medical equipment for power supply and voltage. For different medical devices, appropriate voltage regulators and other equipment should be used to ensure the stability of power supply and voltage.

This project is a comprehensive tertiary-level Class A hospital with a building area of 79,567 m2, including 30,257 m2 underground and 49,310 m2 above ground. The building consists of three underground floors and two towers above ground: a 15-story ward building and a 9-story outpatient building. The underground floors are interconnected, and floors 1-4 above ground are also interconnected. The third underground floor contains a parking garage and storage rooms, with a partial wartime medical aid station; the second underground floor contains a supply and refrigeration station, a pump room, and a substation.
The project includes four 10/0.4kV transformers with capacities of 2×1600kVA and 2×1250kVA, respectively, with a unit installation index of 72VA/m2. Among them, TA and TC transformers are dedicated lighting and power transformers; TB and TD transformers are for air conditioning and medical equipment. In addition, a 1000kW emergency diesel generator set is selected as an emergency power source.
For electrical equipment such as ventilation, air conditioning, water pumps, elevators, and escalators, load statistics will be calculated based on the installed capacity provided by the relevant professional processes, excluding standby equipment capacity. For lighting equipment, load statistics will be calculated according to the standard illuminance, unit capacity method, and specific plans.

The total installed capacity of equipment in this project is 10555.00kW, with a calculated active power of 8351.50kW and apparent power of 9279.44kVA. The ward building’s substation has an installed capacity of 4203.65kW, a calculated active power of 3152.74kW, and an apparent power of 3503.04kVA, using two 2000kVA dry-type transformers. The outpatient building’s substation has an installed capacity of 3193.00kW, a calculated active power of 2362.00kW, and an apparent power of 2624.44kVA, using two 1600kVA dry-type transformers. The refrigeration room’s substation has an installed capacity of 3319.00kW, a calculated active power of 2899.80kW, and an apparent power of 3222.00kVA, using two 2000kVA dry-type transformers.
